7.0 Emotions

One of the most challenging task in photography is capturing emotions. Photographer must anticipate the reaction of the subject. Patience is needed to do this. Before taking the picture I usually visualize the emotions that I want to capture in my mind. Looking one step ahead you can calculate when and how to take the photograph.
Below are some of my photos of Emotions.

6.0 Life by the Sea

Have you ever wonder what is life by the sea? There are many people that depends on water for source of income or in some cases for their food to eat. Some uses boat to fish on the vast oceans while others catch fish on the seashore using nets. In Lingayen Pangasinan I recently discovered that every morning a group of people are fishing in the shore for their food. Some are selling their catch but to surprised they are doing this everyday. Yes, everyday! Every morning as early as 5am they will catch fish until 10am to support their family. The method is quite simple. They will just throw the net on the water and drag the net to the shore. A simple but effective way of fishing.

5.0 Playground

A playground is a place or area for kids to play. In my recent vacation at the hometown of my wife, I found a different playground for kids to play-the beach. I am amused to see two kids playing as early as 6am in the morning by themselves. The first thing that comes into my mind is how can I take the photos of them without bothering them on their playing. I decided to take the photos of the kids at a distance forming silhouette in the landscape.

4.0 Lingayen Gulf

The Lingayen Gulf is an extension of the South China Sea on Luzon in the Philippines stretching 56 kilometres (35 mi). It is framed by the provinces of Pangasinan and La Union and sits between the Zambales Mountains and the Cordillera Central. (source: Wikipedia).

Time: 5:00AM

As early as 4am I am already awake and ready to go to the beach of Lingayen Gulf but the cold breeze of air prevented me from getting up!. :-) After a few minutes I decided to get up and made some stretching. The way to the beach is too dark, I used flashlight to see my way. After a 10minute walk I found myself on the beach. Still too dark but the sun is starting to show up. To my dismay I remember that I forgot my tripod! How can I shoot landscape without a tripod? I improvised by using a steady piece of coconut wood but failed miserably. Then I decided to shoot handheld. First it was not that easy because the sky is still too dark. (take note I don't have any filters due to my ordered ND and GND filters did not arrive on time). After a few adjustment on my camera I found my settings and started to fire my camera.

Below shots are edited using pseudo-HDR.

This is my improvised tripod ended up to be my subject!  :-)

3.0 Photographing Kids

Smile! Your on Camera.

Kids love to be photographed. In my recent vacation on my hometown I got a change to do a solo photowalk. In turns out to be photographing kids! Here are my tips on photographing kids on street.
1. Approach the kids and talk to them. Kids are afraid to talk to strangers but if you have a camera on your neck, they will approach you.
2. Took some shots and let them see themselves on your camera.
3. Tell them to do some pose and gestures. Do not direct them what to do. Kids are always beautiful in pictures whatever pose they make.
4. Take a photo of solo or group.
5. When taking pictures don't forget to ask them to say "cheese"!
6. Finally thank them and wave goodbye!
